The Plastic Holds No Water, 2017

Biennale Internationale Du Lin De Portneuf, Deschambault, Quebec, 2017
and
The Linen Biennale, Portadown, Ireland, 2028

Commissioned installation for the Biennale Internationale Du Lin De Portneuf, Deschambault, Quebec.
On view: June 17 – October 1, 2017
Multiple panels of hand-dyed linen in indigo and small plastic pieces all sewn onto tulle substrate.

Commission was to create textile art using linen while addressing the idea that “what goes unnoticed” is often obscured by the insignificant. I proposed that discarded plastic in our water is a danger to all life on earth, it is often unseen and floats below the surface. The viewer is confronted with the plastic pieces anchored to the blue “water” as she approaches the artwork.
